Cabinet approves 2% hike in DA for central government employees and pensioners

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a 2% increase in dearness allowance (DA) from January 1, 2017.The announcement, which is in line with recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, will further boost earnings of 49 lakh central government employees and 55.5 lakh pensioners.

Expected DA from January 2017

DA from January 2017 will be 4% based on All India Consumer Price Index  – Increase in Dearness Allowance for Central Government Employees and Pensioners with effect from January 2017 estimated to be 2%

AICPIN for the month of September 2016

AICPIN which is released by MINISTRY  OF LABOUR  & EMPLOYMENT LABOUR  BUREAU every month based on the prices of various key food items. The AICPIN is used to calculate DA for CG employees and IDA for CPSU Employees.

Expected DA from January 2017 – NFIR assumption on DA from Jan 2017 Probable DA rise w.e.f. 01.01.2017 in case 277 continues 4.24% (round off to 4%)

NFIR General Secretary to its affiliates regarding the Dearness Allowance formula after 7th CPC and the expectation on next additional dearness allowance from Jan 2017.

The festive bonanza doesn't seem to be ending for the lakhs of central government employees and pensioners this year.
