What is Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA)?

Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA)  is Dearness Allowance for all board level executives, below board level officers, employees and workers of the central PSUs.

After 6th CPC, the government revises the IDA for the PSU staff every quarter( January, April, July, October) depending upon the movement of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) with a view to compensating them for the rising cost of living.

Formula for calculating Dearness Allowance for Central public sector employees after 1.1.2007(6th CPC) is :
Dearness Allowance %= {(Average of AICPI(Base year 2001=100) for the past 3 months - 126.33)/126.33}*100
