From time to time rumours regarding Retirement Age of Central Government Employees erupts in Social Media . We would like to bring to notice to our readers that no such announcement  has been made from any authentic source of government or 7th CPC.

Retirement age for Central Government employees is 60 years now. It was raised to 60 from 58 in 1998  by then NDA Government .

Last year, there were rumours that the centre was planning to raise the retirement age from 60 to 62. This time, retirement age makes headlines one again that the superannuation age may be decreased to 58.

Earlier this year rumours were in circulation  that The retirement age  for CG employees as the completion of 33 years of service, or at the age of 60, whichever comes first.

This time rumours went to next level by stating that The retirement age  for CG employees as the completion of 33 years of service, or at the age of 58, whichever comes first.This news went viral on social media and created panic among  government employee.

Whether the 7th Pay Commission will include the recommendations on retirement age in its report to the government (7th CPC report to government is expected in August) we will come to know only after 7th CPC submits its detailed report to government till then all are rumours.

If a man take govt. Job in 18 years and if retirement age is 33 years then he retire in 51 years which is completely wrong, because his children is young or may he take the educational loan,housing loan, children marriage and so on work he has to do if he retire in 51 years of age his children future is in dark.His children not get sufficient education that he need so 33 years of service retirement is not good for this type of people.

Retirement age on completion of 33 years of service will definitely darken the future of the children of such employees who got service at the age of 18-20 years as these children will be under their study age and totally dependent on their parents. If the Government takes such steps then it will be a matter of encroachment from those who had shown their caliber of getting the job at early age instead of appreciating them. So this decision will have an adverse affect on the life and future of such employees particularly their dependent family and children.

As in the West the Government

As in the West the Government's only job should be that of a referee - to set the rules and see that the private sectors play fair by them. The government should not get into this business of welfare or providing jobs as invariably it will try to give this benefit to its vote banks. And that's the story of how nations (including socialist) all sink into the pit that they have dug, because this bias will ultimately affect productivity.
The government should set up a time line in which it t should shut down most if not all government departments. But the track record of our private sector to do honest business is so bad, and that of the government and courts to take them to task is so poor that most probably we will end up in a bigger mess than we started off.

Retirement age should be 60 yrs only

There are people who have their children young and are pursuing studies. One cant generalize. One cant be wealthy if one is serving in public sector unless they are serving in gradeA or grade B gazetted . There are million other ways for creating employment for youth, but definitely not by taking away jobs from people already serving. These kind of policies will be only affecting middlemen.

Hello mam, as i think this is wrong and even more problematic for those peoples who plans accordingly their job, A person first full fill our children's requirements and dream and then after he think for own after retirement saving plans..

The basic concept of

The basic concept of retirement at 33years of experience is not to create jobs for young generation but the person will be forced to invent himself creatively on the basis of his/her experience. At the same time when you are in job then you will have to keep adding value in yourself, knowing that once again you will have to prove your caliber as entrepreneur or employability in private sector. However the payments to employee should be adequate and at par with private sector.

At present none is getting

At present none is getting job in early age except Forces, Paramilitary forces only, in other sectors the job getting age is around 30-35 yrs as maximum of jobs are on contractual basis and it takes time to regularize. So either 33 years services or 60 yr age is best option to overcome from the unemployment. It should be adopted in larger youth interest. Only those employees who do nothing and getting smart salary are criticizing this, however it s a very good decision.

I totally agree with you...as to meet the liabilities one must have taken loans ...and the Govt. taking steps on to minimize service from what one has planned till the retiring age is completely shattering his meticulously planned life.

yes puja iam supporting you in regarding this the children who are depending on their parents salary so how can they survive and take proper education if the retirement age will be decrease from 60 to 58 or 33 years of service completing. this is very very wrong recommend of the central government. many peoples are saying wrong judgement of govt.

Me and my family were shocked on reading the news of retirement age on completion of 33 years service. We are 3 sisters and all are studying. If such a provision of Government is implemented in 7th pay commission then it can spoil our career and our study will remain on midway as my father will get retirement at the age of only 52 years. Hence the said decision of the government would absolutely be a wrong decision.

U can't take this dicision suddnely .. Some people would have there future planing with there son's and daughter's education and marriage.. U can't destroy these plannings suddnely.. U should have apply this rules for those govt employees have retirment time atleast 10 year remain with this rule....

do you want retirement age to be 53??

If some one Joins Government or PSU job at the age of 20 Just after Graduation He/She will retire at the age of only 53. This move will definitely create trouble for those. Retirement age 58 is acceptable but 33 years of service is just too tough move.

Criteria

32 or 33 years of service is not a very small period of the life. Now a day highly educated young is not getting a part time job.

What will you do if suddenly

What will you do if suddenly you will be told that you are retiring next year/next month or next day, though you may be having around 5-10 years of service left( And may be even more because if it can be 33 yrs then why not 23 yrs or 13 yrs or whenever the govt desires) . KINDLY THINK, do not seek employment at the cost of others, other wise you will also taste the same one day

Early retirement

I joined service at the age of 20. If the criteria for retirement is fixed as above, then I have to retire at the age of 53. I have two daughters - one studying 1st year college and the other one in 8th standard. How will I manage my family if I become jobless at 53 with two daughters..? During the initial period of my service, I didn't have any promotional avenue. When I joined service, my salary was just Rs.1300 pm. My annual income in 1987 was not even equal to my one month's salary now.. How can I be sent out of service just because I have put in 33 years of service that too when I am expecting a promotion in my career after waiting for a long period? If the 7th PC team actually recommended this, it will be ridiculous and it will be more ridiculous if the Government accepts the recommendation and implements it....

This measure is disastrous. If an employee joins at 21 years, he will be forced to retire at 54 years. This is the age at which the discharge of responsibility of employees will be at peak stage. It is suicidal for him of he is made to retire at that age. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN.

Retirement after 33 years of service should be avoided

Its a very tough decision about the retirement after 33 years of service of CG employees. It is acceptable in case of retirement after 58 years of age but it is not for the people after 33 years of service. It has created fear among many people of the country. It will create many troubles for most of the families of the country. Many people are mentally and financially not prepared for accepting this decision.
So I think immediate decision will not be a good move.

I would be the worst decision if govt accepts the provision.

You cant retire someone at the age of 55 , 54 or even there would be some people who would have joined it at the age of 20 also. No one would like to be retired on the age of 53.
So please it is a request please dont ruin the lives of many employees.

58 may be OK, but not 33 years of service.

many views expressed are supporting the 58 "retirement" age but not "33 years of service". This will create chaos for many. Even 58 need not be "enforced" for say 3-5 years and could be optional. After few years the feedback would enlighten if to impose compulsorily or still continue as optional.

It is not a good decision

This kind of decision is not correct.
It is indirectly telling youth to join government job at late age i.e. 27 years, valuable young age from 19 to 27 years either he can be jobless or can work in privatw job.
If two people joins the same job one at 20 and other at 27 in the year 2000, Then in the year 2033, person who is younger among both retires first. So, old person continue in job where as younger one retires!!!!!
I am unable to under stand how it will encourage youth to join government jobs at younger age.

Drastic advice.

If it is the opinion of the commission, the more sufferrers will be middle cadre and lower cadre only. People who enter early in service were for their family support and with under gradution have to suffer heavily because of 33 years. Top cadre people will not be effected because of higher education which leads to late entry. Hence i hope government will take good decision which help employees at large especially at the verge of service to accomplish their family obligations.

It is indeed disheartening to know the views of my countrymen about early retirement being fixed by the Government of India. Those who are not satisfied with the service of 33 years cannot be satisfied with the service of 330 years also. It is a never ending greed to earn more, to educate children, to own house which will turn into educating grand children, having bigger houses etc. Let us think about the youth whose energy cannot be channelised for constructive work. Despite being highly qualified they are not able to get a part time job and are earning meagre amounts to sustain themselves. And on the other hand people having worked for 33 years are also not satisfied. This has to end somewhere. No Government official will retire on his own. Then there will be demands to increase the retirement age like in Spain where it is 65 years etc. May be someday people may demand to increase the age till life of the person. Let us rise above the personal interest and fall in line with the vision of our Prime Minister and play our role in making India a robust and burstling economy to compete with the other nations. Let the command be handed over to youth who will have a clearer, newer and better thought process than the people who have already worked for 33 years which means they would have joined the service in 1982. Much technology has changed since then. World has moved to a distant place since 1982. The officer who joined in 1982 and the officer who joins in 2016 will have a sea difference in their approaches towards work. I am for the welcome change.

government is simply trying to impose their burden upon the CG employees.
this is not a creative way to generate employment in the country.

7th pay comission

7th pay commission should consider only age 58-60 for the retirement of person . At the age of 50 -51he is not able to get some other job to fulfil his financial needs more over this is the time when he is having major financial resposiblities.

It is found some news papers regarding the superannuation of employees either 33 years of service or 60 years of superannuation whichever is earlier Is it true??? Not a good approach

Government should not think of retrograding the present policy. It should always work in the progressive direction. Creation of jobs can be done through various ways. You generate space by putting more benches, not by emptying suddenly the pre-occupied benches. Government would rather become very infamous if it puts in such a stringent act to implement.

The ideal retirement criteria is 34 years of service or 61 years of age. & simultaneously the employment age limit should be enhanced 5 years by which the crores of unemployed youths will get job in Govt.and Pvt. Sectors. 34 years of service in the Govt.sector is not a little period of life all will accept the criteria.
